Auction House is continuing to sell properties during the lockdown for the coronavirus outbreak - at a time when most estate agents and even other property auctioneers have put business on hold.

The group sold more than 150 lots during the first two weeks of the restrictions coming into place – many of them well above their guide prices - by transferring its usual room auction lots to its online operation.

Auction House Founding Director Roger Lake said: “We’ve been thrilled with how successfully our tried and trusted system of selling online has clicked into place. Auctions have either been

More than 60 lots have already been entered into SDL Auctions’ new national property auction – just days after the event was announced.

The first national property auction will take place on Thursday 30th April and will allow buyers, sellers and SDL Auctions staff to maintain social distancing within government guidelines.

The auction, which will feature lots from around the country, will be conducted by managing director and auctioneer Andrew Parker from his usual rostrum and live-streamed over the internet.

Andrew said: “To have received more than 60 instructions in such a short space of

Bond Wolfe Auctions has cancelled its May auction in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief executive officer Gurpreet Bassi said: “The health and safety of clients, staff and the wider public are at the forefront of our decision and a priority over our commercial objectives.

“While we are fully able to operate a ‘remote bidding only’ auction or even a full online sale, it is doubtful that we would achieve the best possible price for our vendors.

“Additionally, it is completely unreasonable for us to expect potential purchasers to buy property without the possibility of carrying out their

SDL Auctions North West has seen a surge in property instructions ahead of its April room auction, which will take place via live video feed with remote bidding.

Andy Thompson, head of auctions North West, said the growth in instructions – from both existing and new sellers – was a vote of confidence for auctions, which allow people to complete their transactions while maintaining necessary social distancing.

He said: “Life may be on hold for many, with very good reasons, but people still need to sell property. Waiting until the crisis is over may simply not be an option for some – and that’s

Hundreds of people tuned in to watch SDL Auctions Graham Penny’s 100th Derby auction – the first in its history to be held behind closed doors.

Instead of celebrating the occasion in front of a crowd of people as hoped, just a few staff members were in attendance as managing director and auctioneer Andrew Parker took to the rostrum in the company’s head office.

For the 500 viewers watching on the internet, very little looked different – and the bids came in as thick and fast as ever. With over 120 pre-registered remote bidders, buyers placed their bids on the telephone, by proxy and over the

A note from Mark Jenkinson auctioneers:

There is no doubt that we have entered a period of unprecedented difficulty as many of us adjust to new ways of going about our daily business and personal lives.

Our two auctions so far this year have been exceptional, and interest is already gaining momentum for our auction on the 7th April.

We have been keeping a very close eye on government announcements and must take seriously the recommendations regarding events and personal contact, in the best interest of both our clients and staff.

Auction House London held its first ever live-streamed auction last week in the face of the global lockdown forced by the coronavirus pandemic.

Director and Auctioneer at Auction House London, Andrew Binstock put in a phenomenal performace, with 5 and a half hours at the podium, in a room directly into a camera. Buyers, who could bid by phone, proxy or over the internet, embraced this new auction style, and 74% of lots offered, sold.

Andrew Binstock said: “We were determined to create an experience as close to a traditional room auction as possible. One of the greatest challenges taken on by
