Members Questions Answered
Q: I'm having problems logging in, what shall I do?
A: If you have forgotten your password, you can request a reset by clicking the "Forgot password" link on the login page. You will automatically receive an e-mail containing a link for you to click on or copy and paste into your browser. This is a one-time login which should be used within 24 hours of receipt. Please do check your SPAM folder in case the link is redirected into there!
After logging in, you can then change your password in your Account area. If your e-mail address isn’t being recognised, please contact us. If you believe that your username and password are correct and you are still having problems accessing your account, please contact us and a member of our team will help you.
Q: How can I change my password?
A: You can do this in your My Account area. Here you will be able to enter and confirm your new password, which is case sensitive. Once you click 'SAVE' your new password will be saved on our system. Please make a note of your password, keeping it in a safe place for future reference. (You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and restricting access to your computer, as you will be accountable for any activities conducted under your password).
Q: How do I change the e-mail address that I use to login to UK Auction List?
A: You can do this in your My Account area. Here you will be able enter a new email address. Once you click 'SAVE' your new email address will be saved on our system.
Q: Why are you continuing to take money from my credit/debit card?
A: UK Auction List is a property auctions membership subscription service.
When you register to UK Auction List, you select a monthly or three-monthly subscription. A subscription is “an amount of money that you pay regularly to receive a product or service” and is “an arrangement by which access is granted to an online service and an advance payment is made to receive or participate in something”. You sign up to a “subscription” that continues on a monthly or three-monthly (depending on which selected) basis until cancelled. We advise this clearly on the Registration page under "PLEASE READ", here in our FAQs, on both the Welcome email and on the Order Confirmation that are emailed to you on sign up. We also advise ‘how to cancel’ in the same paragraph on the Registration page and in our FAQs.
Monthly subscriptions are currently £9.95. Our three-monthly subscriptions are £19.95. These are set up as automatically recurring payments processed by our payment provider, OPAYO, every month or three months until you cancel your subscription. If you only want the service for the initial month or three month period, then you need to ensure that you cancel a day or two prior to the next billing date otherwise your membership continues and another payment will be debited.
If you have been a member for a few months or longer and do not require the service, then the same applies. Once you cancel, your membership to UK Auction List will expire at the end of your one-month or three-month period, and thereafter you will not be allowed access to your member's area.
Please note that we do not (and are not obliged to) send you reminders about your renewal payment date, so please keep a note yourself of the date that you registered, and when your recurring payments are due. An automated Order Confirmation will be emailed to the address that you provide upon registration, and this is issued so that you are aware of the type of subscription you have signed up for i.e. the 1 monthly or the 3 monthly. Additional invoices for recurring payments can be located and downloaded in your Orders within the Member's area. If you only require your subscription for one month or three months, then it is your responsibility to cancel within your Account, prior to the next payment being debited.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Cancelling your account/subscription is simple. When you're logged in to your Member's area, click on the 'My Account' orange button (next to My Property Alerts/My Orders/My Favourites). At the bottom of the page, you will see a link entitled 'cancel subscription'. Once submitted, your subscription will be cancelled automatically and no further payments will be debited from your account.
You will receive an email informing you of your cancellation and advising that you will retain full access to your Member’s area for the remainder of your monthly or three-monthly subscription.
Please note that the only way to cancel is via your Account page in the Member’s Area and not via a telephone call. As soon as you cancel your subscription, your recurring payment is automatically cancelled as well.
(If you don't receive the email confirmation within 24 hours of cancelling your account, phone us and speak to us immediately, so that we can verify your details. If you have cancelled your subscription then it is not possible for further payments to be debited from your account. So if in any doubt, call us straight away. And remember to check your Junk folder!)
Q: I'm interested in a property, who do I contact?
A: You should contact the auctioneer directly, either by e-mail or telephone. Their contact details are only available to view if you have registered and are a member. They appear just below the PDF on the description page. Simply click on the name of the auctioneer and it brings up their contact details.
Alternatively, there is the link to click on the full catalogue just above the PDF description, which, if available, displays every property for that particular auction/auction date, and will also display all the contact details of the auction house. The phone number of the auction house is usually included in the actual full description. You can also find all of the auctioneers' contact details within the auctioneer directory.
Q: I saw a property on your website but now I’ve registered I can’t find it anywhere.
A: When you search for property auctions via Google or a similar search engine, the results sometimes display tagged pages from our website. These results are from past auctions (the date of the auction is normally next to the property image). You will not be able to view these tagged pages on our actual website if the properties are from auctions that have taken place over 6 weeks ago. If you find a property via a search that you put into your search engine, always check on our actual website www.ukauctionlist.com and search for the same property to make sure that it is a current property for auction.
Q: I asked for details on a property but haven’t heard back from the auctioneer. What can I do?
A: We apologise on behalf of the auctioneer. Our advice is phone them up if you have already sent an email.
Q: I can't find any properties or property auctions in the area I am searching for?
A: There may not be any current properties for auction in your area (there are a lot fewer properties for auction, than property for sale through an estate agent). If this is the case, you can use the search box to adjust the search criteria and broaden your search i.e. perhaps don't select any specific property types or price range. This will increase chances for search results. Remember that the auction catalogues are released on an ongoing basis throughout the year; so if you don't find anything in your area of interest, check back again the following week. Note: Mid-December until mid January, and the month of August are holiday periods for auction houses. Please also note that our website is for "Traditional" auctions, not Modern Method, and the properties we list belong to auctioneers who conduct only this type of auction.
N.B. As soon as the auction catalogue is released by the auctioneer, we aim to have it uploaded into our database within 24-48 hours (depending on the size of the catalogue). If there is an actual PDF Auction Catalogue, you will be able to view this while waiting for the individual lots to be uploaded in to our database. Sometimes if auctioneers release their catalogue very late, we do not have the time to upload the individual lots, however as a Member, you have access to the Auctioneer’s Directory which contains the contact details and websites of ALL the auction houses in the UK, so in this event, you can access the catalogues directly.
Q: How do I save a property to a shortlist?
A: You can save a property by clicking 'add to favourites' which can be done from either a property search results page, or from a property details page. You can view and manage your properties within your Member's area in the 'Favourites' section.
Q: Are the dates, times and venues in the calendar accurate?
A: The dates, times and venues stated within the calendar are correct at the time of publication. The auctioneer has the right to change these details at any time. UK Auction List takes no responsibility for changes made by the auction house and recommends that you contact the respective auctioneer prior to any auction to confirm details, as they can be subject to change.
Q: How do I arrange a property viewing?
A: In order to arrange a viewing for a property you will need to contact the auctioneer who is advertising the property. We have listed telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for those auction houses that provide this information.
Q: I need to update my details?
A: To update your details, log in to the members area where you can change your profile and account details.
