Sutton Kersh 20 Years in Business

Sutton Kersh Auctions are celebrating their 20th anniversary this month and what a way to celebrate it with an auction selling over £6 million pounds worth of property.

This is the business's sixth auction of the year and has so far seen a total of 449 properties sold by Sutton Kersh Auctions. Founder of Sutton Kersh Auctions, James Kersh, used to work in commercial property and spotted a huge gap in the market. He found himself becoming frustrated with the time it took for deals to exchange and was always fascinated by auctions because the transaction seemed much more transparent and quicker.

"My Father encouraged me to speak to a friend who was an auctioneer, as we both felt there was an opportunity in the Liverpool property market and within our business. At the time, most residential investment property was being sold by auction and this is still the case today. I remember setting up an answer phone and placing an advert in The Echo newspaper to try and build our mailing list prior to our first auction. We literally had to beg for instructions at that time, but we got a great lot of listings and sold 100% of the lots we offered.

From that experience we got the bug and have been lucky to have grown the business for the last 20 years to become the leading property auction house in Merseyside. Cathy Holt & our experienced team have the extensive experience to navigate vendors & purchasers through the auction process which makes vendors & buyers both recommend us and work with us again." From Sutton Kersh Auctions yearly results and growth of their team, it is clear this Merseyside business is continually growing from strength to strength, and to achieve the results they have in the current economic climate is a true testament to their reputation within the industry, expertise and accuracy of property pricing, for both the vendor & buyer. For example the first Lot of the day a 2 bed semi detached house on L4 on Selwyn Street, sold for £32,000 over its asking price.

Also Lot 54 gained a lot of interest from bidders both on a local & national level, it was a 3 bed end town house in Maghull which was listed with a guide price of £120,000 but after an intense bidding war it sold for £167,500. The next auction will be taking place in December.
