Strength in depth at next Cheffins property auction

Auction-goers have a rare opportunity to buy more than 35 acres of semi mature woodland in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside. Dumplings Wood is half a mile north of the village of Barrington, near Cambridge, and is listed with a guide price of between £220,000 and £230,000.

A pair of commercial sites in the heart of Cambridgeshire are expected to generate plenty of interest when they also go under the hammer. The site comprises 16 individual business units that are used for a mixture of industrial and office purposes. It currently generates around £101,242 in rental income a year – but there is scope for that to increase as one unit is currently empty.

A single block of farmland is expected to fetch at least £250,000.The 25.87 acres (10.47 hectares) of grassland is situated between the villages of Sandon and Kelshall in Hertfordshire.

Land that was once home to a chapel dismantled in the 16th Century is expected to fetch at least £8,000. The 0.2 acre site is on the banks of the River Cam at Chapel Hill, Little Thetford, near Ely. The land – which also contains a range of outbuildings – has a guide price of between £8,000 and £10,000. It was formerly the site of a chapel that was dismantled in 1571 and it is thought that some of the stone from that building was used in the construction of St George’s Church in Little Thetford.

A plot of land at a site at The Glebe in Frogge Street, Ickleton, near Saffron Walden, is on the market with a guide price of between £125,000 and £135,000. The land measures 0.37 acres and comprises a mix of hard-standing and grass with mature hedging around all sides. There is also one large portable building and a number of additional timber and corrugated sheds.

A former village reading rooms will also be up for auction; the Institute in St Neots Road, Eltisley, near Cambridge, was originally used as a village reading room.

A one acre site in a Cambridgeshire village, which has planning permission for a six bedroom house, is going up for sale at auction. School Farmhouse in Ely Road, Chittering, has been put on the market with a guide price of between £225,000 and £250,000. Planning permission was granted in March this year for the demolition of the existing dwelling and replacement with a six bedroom detached house and double garage.
