Town centre house snapped up at auction
A character cottage in Street was bought by a keen buyer before it went under the hammer at auction.
The two-bedroom terraced property in Barn Close was among 187 lots listed in the October auction held by Clive Emson Auctioneers, which is one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK.
But an offer was made for the property – listed with a freehold guide price of £145,000 plus - before the sale, which was accepted by the vendor.
Senior Auction Appraiser Audrey Smith said: “The new owner seized the opportunity to acquire this charming character cottage.
“Occasionally, as in this case, interested parties are keen to acquire land or properties before they go to auction and make an offer to the vendor.
“The new owner may wish to let out the property for rental income, live in it themselves or carry out improvements before placing it back on the market.”
The house was auctioned in arrangement with Tor Estates.
Clive Emson Auctioneers’ last online auction of this year, the eighth, ends on 11 December, with bidding live from 9 December. Lot entries close on 17 November and the catalogue is online from 20 November.
