St Austell School site heads for auction
A fire-damaged former school in St Austell is going under the auctioneer’s gavel with a freehold guide price of £50,000 to £70,000. (THURS FEB 6)
Cornwall Council has instructed the sale of Carclaze Infants School, in Carclaze Road, on the edge of town.
It is among 174 lots in the first sale of 2025 by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers
Auctioneer David Henwood said: “This substantial site comprises a fire-damaged building and significant area of hardstanding.
“It offers a range of possibilities for potential renovation or replacement. Any future use would be subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”
The site extends to approximately 0.35 hectares (0.86 acres).

Cornwall Council has also instructed the sale of land off Trezaise Road, at Roche, St. Austell, has a freehold guide of £15,000 plus.
The parcel, which extends to 0.85 hectares (2.11 acres), comes with pre-application advice provided by the council in relation to a residential development scheme.
Also placed for sale by the council, are two parcels of land off Burngullow Lane, High Street, St. Austell.
Located next to a terrace of cottages, each has a freehold guide of £500.
One measures about 0.13 hectares (0.31 acres) and has an outbuilding. The other measures about 0.04 hectares (0.1 acres) and is being informally used a storage space.
A ground floor flat for refurbishment at East Hill in St Austell has a leasehold guide of £50,00 plus.
With one bedroom, it is part of a block of four apartments with communal parking. It is being sold with the remainder of a 99-year lease from 1990.

Fowey your eyes only
A four-storey townhouse directly on the waterfront at Fowey is set to attract interest at auction. (THURS FEB 6)
The house in Station Road, which has its own mooring for a dinghy of upto four metres, has a freehold guide price of £425,000 plus.
