Pub rings a bell at auction

A ‘substantial and well-presented’ former pub near Frome is going to auction with a freehold guide price of £300,000 plus.  (THURS 24 JULY)

The Bell Inn at Standerwick includes first floor owners’ accommodation, trading and restaurant areas, gardens, a large car park and land.

It is among 168 lots in the fifth sale of 2025 being held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

Senior Auction Appraiser Audrey Smith said: “The Bell Inn is a substantial, well-presented, freehold public house on a large corner plot.

“Outside there are attractive patio areas and pub gardens with a large car park, as well as a further area of land/garden.

“The property is likely to be of interest in its current guise or to builder developers who may see the potential for further development of the land to the rear, subject to all the necessary planning consents.”

The whole site extends to 0.33 hectares (0.81 acres).
