Smith and Sons last auction of 2017 proved to be one of the most successful for several years achieving a success rate of 87% and raising approximately £1.7 million.
A full room created a lively atmosphere and bidding was brisk with several prices achieved in excess of the guides.
Houses for refurbishment once again proved popular with a property in Wavertree selling for £100,000 against a guide of £65,000 and a flat overlooking the Dee Estuary in Neston sold for £76,000 against a guide of £59,000.
A delightful three bedroomed cottage in Frankby sold immediately post-auction being guided at £320,000 and a potential development site currently occupied for offices and car showroom in Wallasey Town Centre achieved a price of £240,000.
These results demonstrate that sale by auction often achieves higher prices than obtained by private treaty within a given timescale and properties with unusual features attract interest in the auction room.
