Plenty of bidders at Clive Emson Hampshire auction
A three-bedroom house in Gosport went under the auctioneer’s hammer for £126,000 last Thursday.
The freehold mid-terrace at 7 Freemantle Road was among 17 lots being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson.
Rob Marchant, auctioneer, said: ‘The successful bidder voted with their wallet on general election day. The house requires a programme of improvements, with the selling price reflecting that.’
Also sold was a three-bedroom house at 65 St Michael’s Grove, Fareham. The freehold property, chalked for ‘improvement’, went for £141,000.
Eight bedsits with communal facilities at 194-196 Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park, were sold prior to the auction for an undisclosed sum. The bedsits, guided freehold at £280-290,000, are on the site of the former police station.
Rob added: ‘Record employment on the back of a strengthening economy, coupled with the ultra-low interest rate and negligible inflation, makes property an attractive proposition compared to the paltry returns currently generated by cash on deposit.
‘There’s also a new dimension to this auction and future ones.
‘We anticipate investment interest from bidders, aged 55 or over, who arrive flushed with their newly-released pensions pot following what is thought to be the largest revolution in people’s personal finances in decades.’
