Three acres of land and a beach with “breathtaking views” near St Ives has sold in auction for £15,000.

The freehold site of nearly three acres, off Porthkidney Beach, at Lelant, was among 186 lots listed in England by Clive Emson Auctioneers in the firm’s March online auction which concluded on Thursday 26th March.

Katie Semmens, senior auction appraiser, said: “This was an exciting opportunity to acquire your own section of breathtaking Cornish beach and cliff land, and the final bid was for £15,000. It is situated in a truly idyllic setting just above Porthkidney Beach with breathtaking views over the beach itself and over to Hayle beach and Towans.”

Two parcels of freehold land forming part of Hayle Estuary are still available at £5,000. Located alongside Hayle Terrace, together they extend to nearly four acres. Lot 26.

Freehold woodland of nearly 2.5 acres and adjacent Parc An Dix Lane, Phillack, Hayle, sold for £15,500 off a guide price of £10,000-plus, with 22 bids.

A freehold parcel of land and roadway extending to 2.46 acres, adjacent Glebe Row, Phillack, remains available at £10,000. (Lot 53).

In Camborne, freehold land behind Trelowarren Street is available at £28,000 - there is planning permission for a single, detached home. (Lot 38).

Bank on Helston property

A former Lloyds Bank in a prominent corner position in Helston town centre sold in or £132,000. 

The freehold property - with two basements, a ground floor and first floor - in Market Place had a guide of £120,000-plus.

It includes a banking hall, clerks’ area, offices, lift, safe room, eight offices, store rooms, WC and kitchen.

Katie Semmens, senior auction appraiser, said: “There was keen interest on this former bank building, if you pardon the pun, with the e-gavel coming down on a final bid of £132,000, which was £12,000 above the guide price.”

The property was auctioned jointly with Lawskowski & Co.

In the centre of Penzance, 40-41 Causewayhead, a freehold commercial property with planning permission for redevelopment, is available at £155,000. There is consent for partial retention of the ground floor commercial unit and conversion of the upper floors and the rear ground floor for four flats. Lot 166

Also in the Penzance area, Mrs Joes Cottage in Tremethick Cross sold freehold for £105,000. 

The character two-bedroom home includes a garage, communal off-road parking and a garden.

It was auctioned jointly with Andrew Exelby Estate Agents.

A freehold commercial property at 18 Victoria Square, Truro, sold after the auction; the guide price was £110,000-plus. Lot 69.

A semi-detached freehold house with two bedrooms at 10 Greenwith Crescent in the village of Perranwell Station, to the south of Truro, went for £169,000, which was £54,000 above guide price from 28 bids. Lot 103

Opportunities at auction

Near Liskeard, an end-terrace freehold property at 3 Woodland Cottages, Upton Cross, fetched £100,000 in a bidding war, off a guide of £70,000-plus. 

James Lofthouse, auction appraiser, said: “This three-bedroom house attracted keen interest, with the final bid of 11 coming in at £100,000, which was £30,000 more than the guide price.”

In Liskeard town centre, a one-bedroom flat went for £50,500, which was £10,500 above guide price. Flat 3B, 3 Pike Street is on the remainder of a 999-year lease from December 2006. Lot 184.

A semi-detached freehold bungalow at 23 Moorland Way, Gunnislake, sold for £93,000, which was more than twice the guide price, with 31 bids made. The property has one bedroom as well as front and back gardens. Lot 118.

Cornwall Council instructed the sale of two parcels of freehold land in the Saltash area.

The first in Sycamore Road, Latchbrook, at 0.06 acres, went for £4,000, which was £1,500 above guide price. Lot 83.

The second, 0.02 acres in size, also at Latchbrook, is available at £250. Lot 95
