House sold by Auction House West Yorkshire to star in new film
A property in Roundhay, Leeds, sold by Auction House West Yorkshire at its sale on Wednesday 9 September 2015 plays a leading role in a new feature length film starring actor Ricky Tomlinson of ‘Cracker’ and ‘Royle Family’ fame.
The movie 'Gloves Off' follows a former boxer who must train a charge for a bare-knuckle encounter, in a bid to raise money to save his local gym. The cast also includes Denise Van Outen, Alexei Sayle, Brad Moore (Montana) and Paul Barber ('Denzil' in Only Fools and Horses).
Filming is taking place in and around Leeds until October, and this ground floor flat in Roevale Court, Roundhay is the home of Paul Barber’s character Albert, who is a sidekick friend to the hero, played by Brad Moore. The property started with a guide price of £60,000 to £70,000 and sold for £96,000.
37 lots changed hands during the award winning brand's auction in Leeds raising just short of £3,000,000 (£2,952,700). A number of properties attracted a lot of attention from buyers including a two bedroom bungalow in Templegate View, Leeds which started with a guide price of £110,000 to £120,000 and sold for £150,000.
An industrial unit on the Whitehall Road Industrial Estate also lit up the room selling for £107,000 from a guide of just £40,000 to £50,000.
Director and Auctioneer James Pank said, “There was a constant buzz around this auction with many different types of property drawing in bidders who had never considered buying at auction before.”
