Historic house in Clive Emson Auctioneers’ December auction

A period house with a separate cottage in Devon is among the 163 lots listed across southern England in the final auction of eight this year by Clive Emson Auctioneers.

Steeped in history, the central tower of The Priory, Marshall Close, Tavistock, pictured above, is believed to date back to the 14th Century, with Victorian extensions added.

The freehold property, with a guide price of £650,000-plus, has in the recent past been used as a school, a boutique hotel and a large family home.

“There is a lot of bricks and mortar for the guide price,” said James Emson, Managing Director.

“We anticipate keen interest in The Priory in our last auction of eight this year across southern England, with a total of 1,369 lots listed in 2025 and an increase on last year and 2023.”
