Four County Property Auction Success

Symonds & Sampson’s first auction of the year was a resounding success with a 90% success rate and a full room of buyers.

Auction Partner Meredith Wallis was delighted with the results “Momentum has been building during the last week as people started to register to bid,  and we were increasingly confident that there would be competitive bidding on all lots.

“Land sold well with a half-acre site at Ansty, mid-Dorset, selling for £38,000 and pasture and woodland at Nether Compton selling for £10,000 per acre. Properties for renovation proved as popular as ever: a delightful cottage at Blandford St Mary sold for £285,000. Although virtually in need of rebuilding, a Grade II listed cottage at Nettlecombe near Bridport sold for £106,000. A cottage in the Piddle Valley made £205,000, and a bungalow at Marston Magna (pictured below) sold for £190,000 - 26% above guide.

“The most excitement, however, was for a block of seven garages at Colehill near Wimborne. Guided at £35,000, the hammer fell at £87,000 - 148% above guide.”

Graham Barton, who covers the Devon and Cornwall region for the firm, was equally delighted with the results from this area.  “A flat in Tavistock sold for £95,000 and a cottage in Camborne for £75,000. In the run-up to the auction, we had a lot of interest in a cottage in Honiton - just a few doors down from my first marital home - which sold for £152,000.”

Symonds & Sampson will hold monthly Property Auctions in 2026, and is inviting entries from across the region.
