Competitive bidding at Cheshire and North Wales auction

High numbers of viewings, a busy auction room and competitive bidding saw several properties sell for more than their guide prices* at the latest SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales auction this week.

The biggest sale at the auction at Chester Racecourse on Tuesday 27th June saw a link detached, three-bedroomed house at 10 Wakefield Road in Great Sutton, Ellesmere Port sell for £171,500 – 23% above its guide price of £140,000+.

Other substantial auctions included The Coach & Horses in Flint Mountain, Flintshire which sold for £150,000 from a guide price of £125,000+, and a block of apartments at 30 Arpley Street in Warrington which sold for £126,000 from a £105,000+ guide price.

Meanwhile, a flat at 52a Carr Lane in Wigan sold for £37,500, an impressive 25% over its guide price of £30,000+.

Edward Feather, senior valuer and auctioneer at SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales, said: “High interest in the lots in our catalogue prior to the auction led to plenty of competitive bidding and helped generate some excellent sale prices in the auction room.

“It proves that a sale by auction can be the best method of achieving the best price and really is live evidence of the property market at the moment, which looks very strong.”

SDL Auctions Cheshire and North Wales is now inviting entries for its next auction on Wednesday 13 September, starting at 2pm at Chester Racecourse. Anyone looking to sell can request a free auction appraisal by calling 01244 401100, emailing [email protected] or visiting www.sdlauctions.co.uk.
