A detached house in Liskeard sold for double its guide price when it went under the hammer. (FRI NOV 1)
Renarth in Barn Street, Liskeard, fetched £104,000 in the latest sale by Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
Listed with a guide of £40,000 to £50,000, the detached house has three floors with four rooms on its upper two levels.
Auctioneer David Henwood said: “Residential property remains in demand at auction among investors and owner occupiers.
“This detached house gives the owner a number of options post works whether that is for occupation, letting or resale back in the market.”
Renarth was among 173 lots listed in the sale held by Clive Emson Auctioneers, one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK.

Loos snapped up at auction
Former public toilets with ‘picturesque riverside views’ near Truro sold for £258,000 – nearly 10 times their freehold guide.
There were 232 bids when the detached block at Malpas went under the hammer with Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
Cornwall Council instructed the sale of the property, with a guide of £30,000.
Auctioneer David Henwood said: “Bidders were undoubtedly attracted by the potential of this site within the sought after riverside community of Malpas.
“It enjoys picturesque views across the River Fal in a location close to Truro. The new owner may have a number of different future uses in mind, including some form of residential project, subject to the necessary planning consents.”
The block is on an overgrown site, off Trenhaile Terrace and Scobie’s Terrace, facing the river.
* A ground floor flat in Goodern Drive, close to Truro city centre, sparked strong bidding.
The two-bedroom property was listed with a leasehold guide of £110,000 plus but eventually went for £163,000 when the gavel fell.
Auctioned with a new 999-year lease, it was sold in arrangement with MAP estate agents of Barncoose.
* Near Penzance, a detached barn conversion called ‘Due South’ fetched £218,900.
The two-bedroom property, nestled away in the hamlet of Trevegean Veor, at St Just-in-Penwith, was listed with a freehold guide of £199,000 plus.
It was auctioned in arrangement with Stacey Mann estate agents of Penzance.
* In Penzance town centre, a character cottage in Causewayhead sold at a freehold price of £165,000. It has two bedrooms and an attic room along with a rear courtyard.
It was auctioned in arrangement with Andrew Exelby estate agents of Penzance.

Flat has appeal
A ground floor flat in St Blazey has sold at auction at a price of £55,000
The one/two bedroom property in Rose Hill was sold with the remainder of a 125-year lease from January 2013.
It was among 173 lots listed in the latest auction held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
The property was auctioned in arrangement with Ocean & Country of Par.
Also In St Blazey, an end-terrace property for reconstruction in Cornish Arms, Church Street, sold for £26,000.
Auction Appraiser James Lofthouse said: “Although requiring repair or reconstruction, this property drew keen interest.
“Bidders clearly saw the potential in the property which meant that it exceeded its freehold guide considerably.”

Engine house fires up bids
A former tin mine engine house at St Day went for nearly six times its freehold guide when it fetched £35,500 at auction. (FRI NOV 1)
The stone building, now in a poor state of repair, is next to the well-established United Downs Industrial Park.
It was among 173 lots in the latest sale by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.
Auctioneer David Henwood said: “This was an unusual property which captured the imagination of bidders at auction.
“It requires a programme of improvement work for a variety of potential future uses, whether that is for residential or commercial purposes or even for curiosity value, all subject to the necessary consents”
Also in St Day, a freehold parcel of land next to United Downs Industrial Park listed with a guide of £500 plus eventually sold for £10,000 when the auctioneer’s gavel fell.
Cornwall Council instructed the sale of the rectangular shaped site. The parcel measures 0.18 hectares (0.44 acres).
