Clive Emson to auction a fortified medieval tower

A three-bedroom riverside house, guided at £370,000 - £380,000 (lot 52), is part of the ancient tower fortifications and walls in the cathedral city of Canterbury, Kent. The property is among 135 lots listed across the southern England in Clive Emson Auctioneers’ latest auction.

Canterbury City Council instructed the sale of Sudbury Tower, named after the city’s archbishop Simon of Sudbury, who is believed to have financed the upgrading of this section of the city's fortification; he met a grisly end during the Peasants Revolt of 1381.

Three former hotels, a medieval city centre tower and mill house are among 135 lots listed across the southern England in Clive Emson Auctioneers’ November catalogue.

Three former hotels are listed: seven-bedroom Crossways near Polegate, north-west of Eastbourne in East Sussex, has a guide price of £860,000 (lot 24), 14-bedroom Fieldhead in the historic fishing port of Looe, Cornwall, is guided at £450,000 - £500,000 (lot 80) and the Curraghmore at Shanklin, Isle of Wight, is £800,000 - £850,000 (lot 99).

In Essex, at Springfield, near Chelmsford, a detached two-bedroom cottage is guided at £350,000-plus (lot 40) and a two-bedroom cottage in Horrabridge, Yelverton, Devon, is guided at £140,000-plus (lot 41).

With three bedrooms, an end-terrace house in South Norwood, London, has a guide price of £365,000-plus (lot 7).
