Buy your own Star Trek Voyager!

You may or may not have heard of the 'Trekkie Flat' we have here in the good ole UK (it's in Leicestershire!), and while we know that it has been seen before as well as featured on tv a couple of times, what's new on the news front is that it has gone up for sale for a rather affordable price...

It really is quite a remarkable property, and it took considerable time over may years to develop a look so in keeping with the original tv set of the USS Voyager, so its well worth taking a wee peek at what this one has to offer. In fact a lot of its homage to Star Trek even goes deeper than that incredibly detailed shiny, futuristic surface, and it's got a quite amazing list of features: • replica computerised flight deck • voice activated lighting • sound effects and the same drinks receptacles as used in the series • customised doorbell playing a voice sample of Jean-Luc Picard • a replica transporter.

It's not perhaps the 'perfect' property (the transporter doesn't work for example, tho that's probably to be expected!), and there are a couple of cons to balance out those fantastical pros. A big example of this is the property not being eligible for a mortgage, as the windows have been blacked out, and the kitchen has been rendered virtually unusable. So it's cash buyers only, folks!

But even taking those negative points on board, there will be many who don't see it as an issue in light of the spectacular and fantastical living environment. Not everyone is an amateur chef, and not all will be bothered by a lack of windows either (yes, it's not always just a myth that some geeky folks hide away attached to their computer in dimly lit rooms. We have our own pet geek at ukal, lol me!). It would hardly have the same authenticity if you were able to open a window and let the 'real world' in though... it seems that the whole atmosphere is so incredibly immersive because it's entirely in a self contained bubble without a window to let the outside world in. In fact from the street there's no indication that it's anything but a regular flat, which kinda adds to the magic of this one.

The unusual property used to be occupied by Anthony Alleyne, who was jailed in 2013 for downloading thousands of images of child abuse. His ex-wife is now selling the flat, because she doesn't want to be reminded of the past.

According to the estate agent any potential buyers would also need to be vetted as they do not want the flat "to turn into a tourist attraction". An advert for the property on Rightmove reads: "Calling all Star Trek Fans! Have you always dreamt of having your own Voyager? The opportunity of buying this unique and extraordinary Star Trek Voyager Flat replica has arisen! "Step in to the Voyager and let your imagination do the rest. This unique property has been custom made by a real Star Trek fanatic. You won't find any other property like this one, this is truly unique, don't miss it!"

So we're calling all Trekkies! Calling all Trekkies!! This is a one off opportunity to own your own little piece of replica USS Voyager with all the bells and whistles you could think of, and beyond someone figuring out how to make a working transporter, it would be a tough gig to find a better homage to Star Trek or the USS Voyager, especially at such a fantastic price. It's not every day something like this comes along on the property market. The Trekkie flat is being sold by Hope Estates and you can find this rare gem over on their website.
