Auction House Q1 results outperform sector yet again
Award-winning brand Auction House has just released impressive first quarter results for 2015, successfully selling a total of 611 lots in the first three months of the year - outperforming all other UK auctioneers.
The group offered 816 lots in the period, equating to a success rate of 75%, and raising a total of £69 million.
Commenting on the figures, Auction House Founding Director Roger Lake said: “Yet again, Auction House’s Q1 results are unmatched by any other auctioneer in the country. We’re particularly pleased that the group is performing so well in these months of uncertainty just prior to a General Election, which are always a challenge for the property industry as a whole.”
The results are released as Auction House launches an upgraded website with enhanced functionality on all mobiles, tablets and desktops. The group has also introduced an online auction service which uses ebay-style bidding to sell better condition residential properties to landlords, first-time and family buyers.
Roger Lake added: “Our new online service is the perfect solution to the age-old frustrations of traditional house-buying. Prices achieved are in line with those normally delivered by estate agents. Buyers and sellers know the timescale of the transaction, and both sides have proper control over the whole process. It’s a new hybrid selling service that could revolutionise the house sales process.”
Roger Lake also suggested that demand for residential investment properties would be enhanced by one of the biggest shake-ups in the UK’s pension system which came into effect earlier this month.
He explained: “From 6 April, almost 18.5 million people currently aged 55 and over across the UK were given unprecedented access to an estimated £67.5 billion of pension contributions, with the freedom to spend, save or invest their pension as they see fit.
“The beauty of property is that it’s seen as a tangible asset without the complication of other investment types, is something which can provide a regular rental income, and can offer a relatively safe long-term investment compared to equities.
“There is every reason to believe that auction properties will form part of the portfolio of options in which people choose to invest.”
