Auction House London takes a leaf out of Australian auction model
Auction House London is holding a private auction with four lots on Monday 13 July ahead of its main auction mirroring the Australian auction system where properties are sold on site or nearby as they come onto the market.
Auction House London director, Jamie Royston said, “In this case this was the best option for the owner who is selling the four commercial and residential properties in Queensbridge Road, Hackney. This method is similar to the Australian idea and with the increasing popularity of selling by auction we are able to be more flexible on how and when we auction property.”
This auction takes place at a pub, Salt House, 63 Abbey Road, London, NW8 at 12 noon on 13 July 2015. Prices for the individual lots range from £185,000 to £1.55m.
The complete catalogue of 111 lots is due to be auctioned the following week on Wednesday 22 July at the Landmark Hotel, Marylebone Road, London. The lots include a number of properties in prestigious areas in the capital.
Jamie Royston added, “It’s the highest number of high end addresses we’ve seen in one catalogue. We’re taking on an increasing number of homes which would have been sold through traditional agents in previous years where owners now prefer the benefits of an auction.”
This time such homes include a one bedroom maisonette in a Regency block in West Eaton Place, Belgravia, London with seven years left to run on its lease. This has a starting guide price of £250,000 and the cost of extending it to a long term lease is £796,000.
On Oakley Street in the heart of Chelsea just off the Kings Road, two studio flats are being sold with a guide price of £925,000 and the potential to convert the property to one larger duplex apartment. And in Mendip Court, Battersea a modern two bedroom ground floor flat fronting the River Thames is due to be sold with bidding expected to start at £660,000.
