Auction House London sells record number of lots

Auction House London is celebrating selling the largest number of lots it has ever sold in a single auction, along with its highest-ever priced property.

In its last sale on 22 February, the company raised almost £22m (£21,806,250) by selling an impressive total of 85 lots, including the star lot of the day - a six-bedroom semi-detached Victorian house in St John’s Wood, which sold above its £3m guide price for £3.25m.

Commenting on the figures, Auctioneer Andrew Binstock said: “This is another spectacular set of results for Auction House London. Not only are we now the official auction room for Countrywide stock in London, our consistent success rate means that we are fast becoming the go-to auctioneer in the capital.

“Our star lot, 14 Wellington Road in St John’s Wood, is the highest-priced lot we’ve ever sold under the hammer and was purchased by an owner occupier at a price above the predicted sale price of several local agents - which just goes to show that this type of high-end property can do just as well at auction as the more traditional lower value stock.”

The partnership deal with Countrywide means that Auction House London will now sell all its auction properties listed in the capital. Andrew Binstock explains: “This arrangement applies to our forthcoming sale in April, but also a further five sales in May, July, September, November and December this year. It’s a really exciting development which continues to add quality properties to our catalogues.”

Auction House London’s next sale will be on Thursday 13 April at the London Marriott Regents Park, 128 King Henry’s Road, NW3 3ST at 12 noon.
