SDL Graham Penny, the new name for the most successful auctioneer in the East Midlands, concluded its Derby auction calendar in style last week by raising over £5m.

The auction, on Wednesday 7th December at the iPro Stadium, saw 58 lots offered under the hammer with over 80 percent selling, including six lots which sold for more than 90 percent higher than their guide price.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and managing director, commented: “We had an incredibly busy auction room this month at the iPro Stadium with dozens of bidders keen to get their hands on their next purchase. That interest in the room helped to drive up our sale prices and resulted in lots of happy vendors on the day. One property even sold for double its £200,000 *guide price.”

Amongst the lots selling well on the auction day were:

88 Longford Street in Derby – a two double bedroomed mid-terraced property in need of a scheme of modernisation which sold for £128,500 from a guide price of £75,000+

37 Mead Crescent in Stapenhill – a two double bedroomed ground floor flat requiring a scheme of improvement. It had a guide price of £25,000+ and sold for £56,000

Bluebelll Wood in Breadsall Village – 6.39 acres approximately of idyllic mixed woodland with meandering brook which had a guide price of £12,000+ and sold for £27,000

Old Quarry Wood in Belper – a charming stone-built detached dwelling which sold for £400,000 from a guide price of £200,000+

Since inception in 2006, SDL Graham Penny has sold more than 5,000 lots across the East Midlands and raised over £500m for clients. Formerly Graham Penny Auctions, it joined the SDL Group in early 2016, making the SDL Auctions network the fourth largest in the UK and the biggest outside of London.
